All entries must be received by September 19th. Please include a copy of health certificate(s) and specify class and breed on entry form.

Open to junior Exhibitors between the ages of 7 and 21 as of January 1st. No entry fee, an entry form must be completed by each exhibitor.

All cattle must be on the grounds by 8 am Saturday and remain until 5 pm Sunday. Judging will begin at 11 am Saturday.

Beginning 2023, all animal exhibits must be in place by 4 pm Friday.

Milking cows only: exhibitors must bring their own milking equipment or you may take them home Saturday evening after 6 pm.

Cattle will be housed in a modern building. Water and one bale of bedding per animal will be provided.

All trailers and animals must be brought in through gate #2. Please see the Superintendent to obtain a parking permit for your livestock vehicle.

All exhibitors are required to show to the Secretary a rabies vaccination certificate signed by an accredited veterinarian indicating the name of the vaccine & serial number. Animals must have been vaccinated 30 Days prior to the first show date. All entries must have health certificates as required by the Connecticut Department of Agriculture.

No animals are to be unloaded until the health papers have been shown to the Superintendent

Animals shall originate from herds that meet the testing and health requirements of the State of Connecticut.

All cattle must have a health certificate issued within 60 days of their first show by an accredited veterinarian stating that the animal is in good health and not showing signs of infectious, contagious and/or communicable diseases

Out of state cattle are required to have current health certificate, and comply with the health and testing regulations set forth by the Connecticut Department of Agriculture.

Animals not complying with the above regulations will be removed from the Fairgrounds.

Animals must be owned or leased by exhibitor, and must be owned or leased before the animal is 2 years old. Certificates of registry and lease papers of all animals must be brought to the Fair and presented to the superintendent.

All cattle will be judged in ring and must be in ring when the class is called

No animals will be accepted on arrival at the fairgrounds unless properly entered.

Each breed will be shown separately. Show whites are required for all classes, no tank tops.

Due to limited space multiple entries may be limited by superintendent.

Any exhibitor dispensing or consuming alcoholic beverages, or leaving before dismissal time, will forfeit premium monies.

The judge reserves the right to withhold the award in any class if they feel the animals do not meet the breed standards. Animals will be judged on their merits.

A premium of $5.00 will be paid for each head of dairy and beef cattle exhibited at Harwinton Fair.

Any exhibitor staying overnight will comply with the Fair’s overnight policy as stated and will be required to wear a Fair issued name tag and will be required to sleep in the dairy barn. Permission slips are required for any exhibitor under the age of 18.

Beef Cattle

Judging will begin at 11 am Sunday, limited to exhibitors 7 to 21 years of age.

No entry fee will be charged.

Requirements the same as for dairy animals. Complete information to be furnished by owner and approved by the Livestock Division of the Department of Agriculture.

If from out of state a permit is required.

Exhibitors must have health papers accompanying any to be shown. This rule will be strictly enforced.

Entry forms should include class, animal’s name and registration number, calving date, sire and dam.
